The Problem
Every girl and woman should have the chance to reach her full potential.
Safe, convenient, affordable menstrual hygiene is taken for granted in affluent countries. But the onset of their monthly period poses a major problem for adolescent girls and women in resource-poor countries. Along with exposing them to health dangers, it can hinder the girls’ education and cause the women to miss work and lose daily wages.
2 Billion
About 2 billion girls and women worldwide are within the menstrual age of 15 to 49 years.
42%
Almost half of all Indian women are unfamiliar with sanitary pads, a situation thats leaves them vulnerable to reproductive tract infections because of poor menstrual hygiene management.
80%
As many as four out of every five women and girls in developing countries, a total exceeding 500 million females worldwide, have no access to proper feminine hygiene products.
5 Days
In large parts of rural Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, hundreds of millions of girls and women miss a week’s worth of school or work per month due to insufficient menstrual hygiene.
UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 5
UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 5 prioritizes achieving gender equality. One key to doing so is ensuring that women and girls in developing countries receive what they need to manage their menstrual cycles properly. It is an increasingly important – yet often unrecognized – issue deeply entwined with education, social development and overall female empowerment.

The Solution
The Saafkins Technology

Saafkins: Safe, hygienic and reusable period panties & napkins
Livinguard developed Saafkins, reusable, washable period panties & napkins, for women and girls who have little to no access to safe, affordable feminine hygiene. They often resort to unhealthy practices when dealing with their periods, which can lead to urinary tract infections and other diseases.
While large-scale government programs in countries such as India now target feminine hygiene, they tend to focus on disposable, single-use pads.

The Saafkins Technology
Saafkins takes full advantage of Livinguard’s revolutionary antimicrobial technology. A reusable 12-hour period panty, it is constructed from a self-disinfecting fabric that makes it highly absorbent, hygienic and allows it to be washed numerous times, even with hand soap. Extensive testing in labs accredited with the Government of India has confirmed the benefits of Saafkins.
1) Tests conducted at South India Textile Research Association (SITRA), bacterial reduction tested according to AATCC 100 against Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae
